The Texas Chapter of Orthopaedic Physician’s
Assistants (TCOPA) is an organization for physician's assistants who specialize in Orthopaedics. Established in 2003, TCOPA’s goal is to unite Texas OPA-C’s and other Orthopedic Allied Health
Professionals to pursue common goals of professional excellence through training, networking and information sharing on best
practices, and successful certification and licensure. Generally, TCOPA members are employed by a Board-certified Orthopaedic surgeon or by an Orthopaedic facility.
The new executive board for TCOPA
is very proactive in Texas and at the national level with two members on the ASOPA (American Society of Orthopaedic Physician’s
Assistants) Executive Board. There are a lot of things happening for OPA’s
in the state and at a national level and we would like to personally invite you to take part in these future opportunities. We are currently accepting applications for membership from Health Care Professionals
who are involved in Orthopedics and are interested in bettering themselves as well as the organization (i.e., OPA-C,
ST, CST, SA, LSA, RN, RNFA, PA-C, OTC, OT-SC, OAP, ROT etc.).

Information
There are two classifications
available for membership, Fellow and Affiliate. Fellow members are required
to have passed a certification exam from the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Physician's Assistants, and attained
the certification of OPA-C. Fellow members are eligible for voting privileges
at the annual TCOPA meeting and may hold office on the Executive Board. Applicants
which are not certified OPA-C’s are encouraged to join as Affiliate members. As
Affiliate members applicants will receive the same benefits as Fellow members with the exception of voting privileges and
the ability to hold office on the Executive Board.
Both memberships provide the applicant with the opportunity to participate
in educational and networking benefits, such as the newsletter subscription, membership directory, legislative voice and discounted
meeting registration fees.
Membership applications are available for download on the website. The web-site includes instructions on mailing the application and membership fees, which are $100.00 for
both Fellow and Affiliate membership.
